Wild Flowers of Jubilee Meadow

We are the first to admit that, whereas we have a reasonable handle on the birds and common butterflies which visit our meadow, we are a bit lost when it comes to plants and wild flowers. Over the winter we will be planting more than 60 varieties of wild flower species, so in the future, hopefully there w ill be plenty to practice our ID skills on!

However, there are quite a number of species out there already, amongst the ragwort, thistles and nettles which we will try to bring under control as time goes by. We have found plenty of oxeye daisies, wild mustard, common vetch, hawksbeard, red campion, common mallow and, best of all, a small group of bee orchids in June, hiding away at the west end of the meadow. If there is anyone out there who has better ID skills than we do – which wouldn’t be difficult, we really would appreciate your help in identifying what is out there, as things develop. Our contact information can be found on our Contact page.
